Meet the Broker

I’m Robert North, an Independent Self-Direction Support Broker based in New York City, supporting individuals and families across OPWDD Regions 3, 4, and 5 (New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley). Since 2022, I’ve been helping families make the Self-Direction process clear, manageable, and person-centered.

I specialize in budget planning, Life Plan development, and service coordination within the OPWDD Self-Direction program. My work includes developing and maintaining budgets, guiding families on eligible services and Medicaid Waiver requirements, and ensuring plans reflect the individual’s strengths, goals, and safeguards.

Collaboration is at the heart of my role — I work closely with Care Managers, Fiscal Intermediaries, providers, and families to keep services aligned, compliant, and moving forward. I also offer training and technical assistance to help participants and their families better understand the Self-Direction process and their options.

My approach is built on clarity, confidence, and compassion. Families choose me as their Broker because I simplify complex processes, communicate openly, and focus on turning plans into real, meaningful outcomes.
